Robin Thicke Countersued by Marvin Gaye’s Family

Posted on Updated on

The family of Marvin Gaye is countersuing singer Robin Thicke in response to the lawsuit he filed against them for protective copyright infringement claims regarding his hit single “Blurred Lines”. Thicke filed the suit in order to prevent Gaye’s family from making legal  claims that he stole music from Marvin Gaye’s hit song “Got to Give it Up”.

The suit filed by Gaye’s family alleges that Thicke intentionally and blatantly took music from the song. However, Thicke claims that just because his song has a similar sound to Gaye’s song, does not mean he committed copyright infringement.

It will be interesting to see how the judge rules in this case.
